Extremely Rare Signed photo of Lisa Lyon
LYON, Lisa (1953-9/8/2023) Body building pioneer. She was the first Women’s World Pro Bodybuilding Champion. She saw herself as an artist and posed for Robert Mapplethorpe. She was in her prime (1980-82). Lisa was also a dancer and a competitive swordfighter. She posed for Playboy in 1980 and Marvel comics character “ELEKTRA” was based on Lisa. Topless ¾ length B&W photo of Lisa Lyon about to shoot an arrow from her bow. Postcard photograph by Robert Mapplethorpe, 1982. Inscribed on the front “For Robert Orth (President of American Film Archive) at the top in gold ink and along the bottom with 2 xx’s and signed.
On the verso she has inscribed the card: “Dear Robert Orth, thanks for your card - be well. In over 55 years, this is the first photograph signed by Lyon that we have seen, and the first item signed by Lyon we have handled. In fine condition..... $1150.00
