Founder of the Gallican Church in France, Excommunicated
LOYSON, Charles (Pere Hyacinthe) (1827-1912). Noted minister who preached at Notre Dame de Paris for several years. He was the most celebrated pulpit orator in France. Because of his opposition to the Vatican Council in 1869, he was excommunicated. He married soon thereafter and n 1878 formed a church in Paris called the Gallican Church. Very scarce signature, in ink, Hyacinthe on a large slip. Together with a carte-de-visite photograph of Father Hyacinthe. Great pair for framing......................................$110.00
