Henry Wadsworth Longfellow are Autographed Verse from Excelsior
 
LONGFELLOW, Henry Wadsworth (1807-1882). Nineteenth century American poet, noted for Paul Revere's Ride, The Song of Hiawatha, The Village Blacksmith, and Excelsior.
 
A Rare Autograph Verse Signed, being a stanza from one of his noted works, Excelsior, one page, oblong, octavo, dated March 8, 1871, no place. The stanza reads:
"The shades of night were falling fast,
As though an Alpine village passed
A youth who bore, 'mid snow and ice,
A banner with the strange device
Excelsior!
Henry W. Longfellow.
March 8, 1871"
 

 

 
The piece shows normal aging and handling, overall in very fine condition. Very uncommon. $1,250.00
