Very rare signature of the “I” in The King and I
LEONOWENS, Anna (1831-19150. English governess of the Siamese Court. Anglo-Indian educator and social activist, feminist. She was chosen to be the teacher to the 39 wives and 82 children and the concubines of the Siamese King Mongkut. She served the court from 1862 to 1867. Her account was fictionalized in the best-selling novel “Anna and The King of Siam” as well as the 1951 hit musical “The King and I.” She co-founded the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. A very RARE signature “A.H. Leonowens, February 22/86 Sunnyside Halifax N.S.” on a lined six-inch slip. A very rare autograph, only the second time I have handles one in over 50 years......................................$595.00
