JOHNSON, Lyndon B.  (1908-1973).  36th President of the United States (1963-1969). Succeeded to the presidency following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. He was responsible for designing the “Great Society” which was legislation that included laws that upheld civil rights, public broadcasting, Medicare, Medicade and the “War on Poverty.” He served as the 37th Vice-President of the U.S. from1961-1963.  This America.  Random House 1966. Folio. One hundred seventy-four pages, black and white photographs, boldly signed by Lyndon B. Johnson on the front free endpaper. On the back of the title page a collector wrote in ink; “Purchased April 1969 at Johnson’s Boy Hood Home. In V/G condition except someone removed a bookplate from inside the front cover and a very slight nick to the top of the binding on the back cover. Not common signed...........$425.00
