He Advised FDR Japan Attacked Pearl Harbor

KNOX,  Frank  (1874-1944)  Republican V/P candidate. Secretary of the Navy under FDR during most of WWII.  On December 7, 1941, Knox walked into FDR’s study announcing Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor.  Typed letter signed, one page, on his name imprinted letterhead. Washington, July 3, 1940 to Mr. J. Duane Upton, The Titusville Herald, Garland, Pennsylvania. Knox thanks Upton for his congratulations and continues: “This is a time when all of us must do our part to provide adequate national defense to meet any emergency that may arise...” Choice signature, letter in fine condition
