KING SIMON II. (1927- ) King of Bulgaria. Only living person who bears the Slavonic title of “Tsar.” Tsar of Bulgaria (1943-46). In 1946, the monarchy overthrew Simon and he went into exile. Fifty-five years later in 2001 he resumed the role of leader taking office as the prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria (2001-05). He is the last of the two living heads of state from WWII. The other is King Michael of Romania. Autograph letter signed on his royal embossed correspondence card dated 23.6.71. “Dear Mr. Butler, My very warmest thanks for your kind wishes on the occasion of my birthday!
