HIS ROYAL MAJESTY KING LEKA I OF ALBANIA  (1939-2011) King of Albania. He was the only son of King Zog. After only a few days old he began life in exile in various countries including many years in South Africa. In 1961, upon the death of his father he was proclaimed King of the Albanians. He was befriended by King Juan Carlos of Spain and Leka lived in Madrid still in exile for some time. In 1993 King Leka entered Albania for the first time since being exiled. He left Albania on his own accord and was tried and sentenced to 3 years imprisonment for sedition, in absentia.  His conviction was pardoned in 2002.  King Leka I died in Mother Teresa Hospital in Tirana. Letter signed, one page on the imprinted letterhead illustrating the Albanian Crown. “Bravo Murillo, Madrid” 14 April 1972. To Baron Richard Wayne Butler, King Leka thanks him for his kind letter  stating he has been on an extended trip and just returned to Madrid. The King sends a signed photograph (not included). Very boldly signed as “H.M. King Leka I of the Albanians”. In very fine condition. A rather scarce autograph ..................$175.00
