KHAN, Liaquat Ali (1895-1951). First Prime Minister of Pakistan (1947-1951). A leading founding Father of Pakistan. First Finance Minister of the inter government led by Governor General Mountbatten. Khan campaigned for the creation of a separate state for Indian Muslims. At a political rally Ali Khan was assassinated by a hired assassin. He was shot twice in the chest dying from his wounds.
