BOYINGTON, Col. Gregory “Pappy” (1912-1988). American fighter pilot during WWII. USMC, he flew with the Flying Tigers. He was the leader of the Black Sheep Squadron. An Ace he is credited with a confirmed 28 victories. He received both the Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross. Offered is a genuine page from Boyington’s book Baa Baa Black Sheep. Inscribed, signed and dated by Pappy Boyington: “Feb.22, 1982- To Danny Turnell- with Black Sheep Greetings- From- Pappy Boyington.” Above on the same page is the following writing in Mike Kawato’s hand: “April 22, 1996 To Stephen Koschal with Hot Blood Squadron from Masajiro Kawato.” Signed once again just below in Japanese. Throughout the years very few items could be found signed by both Aces on the same item. Together with a portrait of Kawato and Boyington and a color portrait of Kawato shooting down Pappy Boyington.
