Last of the Old Time Outlaws and train Robbers
JENNINGS, Al (1863-1961). Last of the old time outlaws. He was engaged in a shootout with a rival attorney Temple Houston, son of Sam Houston. One of the Jennings brothers was killed and another wounded which led Al forming with some members of the old Doolin gang the “Jennings Gang.” He was imprisoned after several robberies and while in prison he was a cell mate of O. Henry. They became life long friends and Jennings became O’Henry’s biographer. Later, Jennings appeared in numerous early silent motion pictures. A fine imprinted autograph collectors card. Jennings has boldly signed his name, adding: “Atty. Now for Pictures, 3/30/21.” Card and original collector’s envelope affixed to a large album page. Newspaper cartoon of Jennings on verso.
