Rare, Truman’s First Inauguration Cover Signed
TRUMAN, Harry S. (1884-1972). 33RD President of the United States (April 12, 1945-Jan 20, 1953) Became President upon the death of F.D.R. Rare cover bearing a cachet portrait of Vice-President Harry S. Truman. Inaugurated as the 33rd President of the United States on April 12, 1945. Affixed is a 4.5 cent The White House postage stamp cancelled U.S. Army Postal Service, April 12, 1945. Inscribed and signed by Truman, as President: “To Anna M. Moody Harry S. Truman.” His signature runs through the postage stamp. Top left corner is a printed return address of Capt. Frank L. Teixeira. Together with a FDC commemorating the National Capital Sesquicentennial (1950) signed in full by Vice-President Alben W. Barkley. In addition is a FDC signed by First Lady Bess W.
