Scarce Presidential Document Signed by Herbert Hoover

HOOVER, Herbert (1874-1964).  31st President of the United States. He became President 8 months before the stock market crash of Oct. 1929 and the Great Depression which started in 1930.  Document signed, folio, Washington, December 16, 1930, measures 18”x22”. Appointment of J. Butler Wright to the Office of Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Uruguay.  Fine clean signature of Hoover as President and countersigned by Henry L. Stimson as Secretary of War. Large wafer seal affixed to the bottom left of the document. Up through President Kennedy, Hoover is the scarcest in signed Presidential documents. Many collectors settle for a Hoover document with a printed signature. More JFK signed documents have appeared on the market in the last several years than those signed by Hoover. More Hoover A.L.S.’s have appeared on the market then signed Hoover documents and Hoover A.L.S.’s are considered scarce. In fine condition and rather scarce.................$750.00
