HORNSBY, Rogers (1896-1963) American professional baseball player, manager, and coach. In 1942 he was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame.  FDC commemorating the Centennial of Baseball. Fine cachet of a baseball player swinging away stating “Invented by Abner Doubleday Cooperstown, N.Y. America Prefers Base Balls To Cannon Balls. Affixed is a US 3 cent Centennial of Baseball postage stamp, cancelled First Day of Issue, Cooperstown, N.Y. Jun 12, 1939. Fine signature hand signed by Rogers Hornsby across the First Day of Issue cancellation. Collectors name and address is typed below. Cover in V/G to Fine condition.................$950.00
