HERZOG, Chaim (1918-1997). Elected the 6th President of the State of Israel (1983-93). He was an outstanding figure in modern Jewish history. From 1948 to 1950 he was Israeli’s chief of military intelligence. During 1967 he was the first military governor of the West Bank and Jerusalem after the Six-Day War.
