HAWKS, Frank (1897-1938). Famous American speed pilot. He set several records. In June 1929 he established a round trip transcontinental flight record from New York to Los Angeles and return. He completed the first transcontinental glider flight in 1930. He died in a plane crash in New York while only 40 years old. Scarce photograph 8”x10”, B&W, full length pose of Hawks dressed in his flight gear in 1932. He is standing in front of his Texaco plane. Boldly signed with excellent contrast.
