World’s Greatest Fighter Pilot, Ace with 352 Victories
HARTMANN, Eric (1922-1993). German fighter pilot during WWII. Nicknamed “Bubi” and “The Blond Knight”. He is the most successful fighter pilot in the history of aerial warfare. He is credited with shooting down 352 enemy aircraft while flying for the Luftwaffe. He crash landed 14 times but was never shot down. Hartmann earned the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds, Germany’s highest military decoration. Wonderful lithograph by Janet Keck, artist, published by King’s Crown Gallery, 1989 and limited to 500 numbered and signed copies by Janet Keck and Erich Hartmann. Measures appx. 19”x25”, black and white. Hartmann is head and shoulders in uniform, smiling, wearing his Knight’s Cross and holding his dog, As new condition.
