Very Scarce Signed by William S. Hart
HART, William S. (1872-1946), American stage and screen actor. His book: My Life East and West. Boston, Houghton Mifflin Co. 1929, First Edition. Three hundred sixty-three pages photographs, frontispiece portrait of Hart in color on horseback by Charles M. Russell. Inscribed and signed: “To Marguerate Tazelaar from William S. Hart.” Small tear top of spine, slight wear bottom of spine and both bottom corners otherwise a very good copy. Hart spent his boyhood in the Dakota prairies. While still a boy he became a ranchman, hunter and bullwhacker. He went east and eventually became an actor. His stage life is a chapter out of the heart of American theater history. He reflects on his contacts with almost all the better-known actors of the stage of the time. When the movies came, Hart saw and seized his opportunity and went to Hollywood. The authenticity and skill he brought to the Western pictures revolutionized the making of the cowboy scenes. Soundly trained as an actor, with all the knowledge of his plains youth to draw upon, the parts he played were the real thing. This book also contains some interesting material on Wild Bill Hickok, Bat Masterson and Wyatt Earp. Not a common signed book of the autobiography of the famous cowboy actor............$375.00
