Very Scarce A.L.S. By Mama Jean for Jean Harlow HARLOW, Jean (1911-1937). American film actress and sex symbol of the 1930’s. Hollywood’s original blonde bomb shell. Her autographs in all forms can be considered scarce. Her mother literally signed almost all of her daughter’s autograph requests even to close friends. Her mother Jean Poe Carpenter (1891-1958). Very scarce autograph letter signed, 4 pages on the letterhead “On Board The Cunard R.M.S. Berengari.” July 18, 1928 to Merty dear. Mama Jean writes for jean Harlow: “No doubt you will be surprised to receive this letter. You see we just decided all at once that we would come along with dad and here we are. I phoned you last Saturday night but Olga said that you were away. We returned from Miami on Saturday and sailed Sunday at midnight. Our trip south was delightful. We had a wonderful time and the weather was lovely. Not a day over 83 and we read in the papers that New York was just dreadfully hot. Today is our third day out and so far our trip has been delightful. We know a great many charming people on board. Mr. Connors, from Buffalo has a motor boat on board. He is not on the ship himself. How is everything? I really shouldn’t be writing this letter to you because you are very naughty-I never hear from you. We are only going to be in Paris for a few days and then we go direct to Holland for the games. We are going to stay at the Hotel Victoria in Amsterdam, perhaps you might find time to drop me a line there. Are Pearl and the baby staying with you now? I do hope I’ll see them when I return.
