WW1 Ace ?, Author of Mutiny On The Bounty
HALL, James Norman (1887-1951). American writer, famous WW1 Aviator. In 1917-18 flew with Eddie Rickenbacker in the 94th Pursuit Squadron, USAF. Some claim he had 6 victories in WW1, some other think only four. Near the end of the war he was a prisoner of war. His books include “Mutiny On The Bounty”, “Men Against The Sea”, and “Pitcairn Island.” Scarce typed letter signed, one very full page, Tahiti, March 10, 1936. To Ruth Sheldon, Norwalk, Conn. Greta content letter regarding a class letter from the old class of 1910 that he receives yearly. He goes on to list the information regarding Charles Nordoff and himself with regard to their marriage and number of children. The writer goes on to say: “I hope that Harry Hopkins and Chet Davis don’t become any more widely generous with the public funds. I wonder when, if ever, they are going to begin trying to balance the budget? I suppose what will happen is that they will water the dollar some more and then I shall probably have to return to the U.S.A. for the $ will be worth so little abroad that all of us expatriates won’t even be able to buy an occasional banana or a slice of breadfruit...” Boldly signed with two words added in his hand.
