HALE, Mother Clara (1905-1992). Humanitarian, the Mother to those who needed one. Founded Hale House in Harlem a home for unwanted children and those who were born addicted to drugs. She eventually helped 1,000 drug addicted babies and children born with HIV. One of the great black women in history who helped in the equal rights movement. Clara Hale was recognized by Ronald Reagan in his 1985 State of the Union Address. Very scarce photograph, 5”x7”, half length pose, smiling, signed “Mother Clara Hale”.
