GRISLAWSKI, Hauptmann Alfred (1919-2003). German fighter pilot during WWII. High scoring Ace in the Luftwaffe. He flew his first mission in July 1941 but his first victory did not come until September 1. Later in July 1942 he was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross after 43 victories. During the next two years he covered the southern sector of the Russian front. His 100th victory came on April 27, 1943 flying with JG-52, In the summer of 1943 he joined JG-50 for the ”Defense of the Reich.’ It was disbanded in autumn and he moved to JG-1 on August 17 1943. There he shot down his first 4 engine bomber, In April 1944 after 122 victories he was awarded the Oak Leave. After being shot down twice and flying 800 missions he had a total of 133 victories including 24 in the west (18 four engine bombers). Color photograph, 4”x6”, head & shoulders pose in uniform.
