Second President of Cuba GOMEZ, Jose Miguel  (1858-1921).  Second President of Cuba. He took part in the ten years War (1868-1878) and the successful revolution began in 1895. He was a Cuban General known as “The Shark.”   Following a rebellion led by Gomez in 1909, the United States occupied Cuba.  Gomez’s administration was marred by corrupt practices. He was succeeded by Mario G. Menocal. Gomez went to New York City where he died. A very uncommon signature on a card................$225.00
