GLUBB, Sir John (1897-1986). British soldier who trained Transjordan’s 20,000 strong Arab Legion between 1939 and 1956. During 1956, Glubb was asked to leave Jordan by King Hussein. Scarce autograph letter signed, 29 July 1962. Glubb writes in part; “....I think the happiest moment of my career was when I was a young officer of twenty in the British Army and my company won three first prize in the Army Horse Show....” Signed twice, once in script the other in block letters.
