GARY, Carlton Michael (1952-2018). American serial killer during the late 70’s. Known as the “Stocking Strangler” and “Granny Killer.” Arrested in 1978 for armed robbery and sentenced to 21 years in prison. He escaped in 1983 but caught a year later. Evidence was found linking him to earlier murders. He was convicted of raping and murdering 7 elderly women with their own stockings. Gary had a genius IQ. Gary was sentenced to death in 1986. On March 15, 2018 he was executed by lethal injection. Advanced proof copy of a book by David Rose about Carlton Gary. Typewritten, 8”x11”, a massive 3” thick. Chapter One, 35 pages, Chapter Two, 35 pages, Chapter Three, 39 pages, Chapter Four, 34 pages, Chapter Five, 34 pages, Chapter Seven, 36 pages (2 copies of Chapter Seven), Chapter Eight, 55 pages, Chapter Nine (2 copies) one has 34 pages, the other 28 pages, Chapter Ten, 42 pages (there is a second copy of Chapter 10, 48 pages, along with a typed note from the author), Chapter Eleven, 33 pages, along with a typed note from the author, Chapter twelve, 29 pages. There are many “lines” underlined in red ink, as well as many “dots” in red ink next to words. Included are three original letters to Carlton Gary from his attorney sending Gary chapters of the book. Interesting, in all three letters from the attorney, there is no mention of a Chapter Six. This book was Carlton Gary’s copy that he read and used to make corrections. David Rose came to visit him in prison in 2005 so that they could talk about it together. In fine condition, and a most unusual collectible............$65.00
