Rare original of “Skull Clown”
GACY, John Wayne (1942-1994). Notorious American serial killer, sex offender who tortured and killed at a minimum of 33 young boys. At least once he climbed into a coffin and fondled a young dead man. Gacy was dubbed the “Killer Clown.” He spent 14 years on death row before he was executed by lethal injection. Original four-color painting of “Skull Clown” on an 8”x10” sheet of card stock. Very unusual, signed twice by Gacy. Once in his usual block letters and once again with his full signature in script “John W. Gacy.” He added the date “93” a year or less before his execution. Gacy took up painting in prison. Many paintings were on 10”x14’’ artist board by Fredrix, from time to time Gacy was ordered to no longer paint. Later when a new warden took over Gacy was no longer allowed to paint nor was he able to receive artist supplies. During these hard times for Gacy he was able to do a small amount of these type paintings on card stock and shirt cardboard. Very few have turned up in the market. This is only the third example we have handled. In mint condition. Together with 2 COA’s from members of the prestigious PADAH organization.
