FROMME, Lynette “Squeaky Red.” (1948- ) Member of the Manson family during the late 60’s and early 70’s. She attempted to assassinate President Gerald R. Ford (1975) becoming the first woman in U.S. history to directly try to kill one of our presidents. She aimed a 45 caliber pistol at Ford on the grounds of the California State Capitol. A secret service agent grabbed the pistol before it could be fired. Fromme became a bizarre symbol of counter-culture terrorism at her 1975 arraignment and trial. Clad in bright red she was repeatedly ejected from the court room. She appeared with her head shaved. During her sentencing, she hit the prosecutor with an apple. She received a life sentence but was paroled in 2009 after 34 years. Collection of 13 envelopes, all sent from prison dated between 1892 and 1983. Each envelope bears her hand signed name (L. Fromme) and return address. She has also hand addressed each envelope. To seal the envelopes, they have a glue back flap that was most likely licked therefore contains her DNA. Each envelope bears a 20 cent US postage stamp that most likely contains her DNA as well. Of the many dozens of letters from Lynette Fromme we have handled through the years we have never found on signed with her last name. It appears that to get one of her signatures it would have to come from an envelope she mailed. The collection in V/G-Fine condition.......................$1095.00
