FORD, Gerald R. (1913-2006). Thirty-eighth President of the United States (1974-77). 40th Vice President of the United States (1973-74). Became President upon the resignation of Richard Nixon. One of Ford’s controversial acts was to grant a pardon to Richard Nixon for his role in the Watergate Scandal.
