Hanoi Jane

FONDA, Jane (1937-   )  American actress and activist. Academy Award Best Actress Klute (1971) and Coming Home (1978). Appeared in Playboy August 1966, later she sued the magazine for publishing the photographs. She supported the Black Panthers and saying we must support them with love and money. She spoke out against the Viet Nam War and was one of the most hated people associated with the Viet Nam War. In July 1972 she visited Hanoi in Viet Nam. Her 10 radio broadcasts attempted to abuse our troops. She visited American prisoners of war and she agreed to have her photograph seated on a North Viet Namese anti aircraft gun looking as if she was trying to shoot down American planes. She earned the nickname “Hanoi Jane.” Many lawmakers saw her protests as treasonous and the VFW called for Fonda to be treated as a traitor. In turn she called American leaders “war criminals.”  Photograph, 8”x10”, B&W, full face looking confused. Very boldly inscribed and signed: “To Richard Peace Jane Fonda.”  In fine condition.........$87.50
