THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES OF ITALY VITTORIO EMANUELE OF SAVOY (1937- ) and PRINCESS MARINA (Marina Ricolfi-Doria of Switzerland). Vittorio Emanuele is the only son of Umberto II, the last King of Italy. He is known as the Prince of Naples. He unilaterally declared himself King of Italy on December 15, 1969. He also claims the title of King of Jerusalem. He lived most of his life in exile. In France he was tried on murder charges but was cleared but convicted of a firearms offense. In August 1978 he fired a shot that hit a 19 year old Dirk Hamer. Hamer died of his wound and Vittorio Emanuele was arrested. After 13 years of legal proceedings he was acquitted of unintentional homicide. In 2004, following a dinner held by King Juan Carlos I of Spain in the Palace, on the eve of the wedding of his son Felipe, Vittorio Emanuele punched his 3rd cousin twice in the face causing him to fall down stairs. King Carlos was a cousin of both men. In June 2006 Vittorio Emanuele was arrested on charges of criminal association, corruption and exploitation of prostitution. Vittorio Emanuele works as an arms dealer. In 1971 he married Swiss biscuit heiress and world-ranked water skier Maria Ricolfi-Doria in Tehran at the occasion of the 2,500 year celebration of Iran’s monarchy.
