Two Scarce German Aviation Pioneers on the Same Leaf
ECKENER, Dr. Hugo (1868-1954). German aeronaut; director of German Aerial Navigation Co. (1911); President of Zeppelin Co. (1924); Builder of the Graf Zeppelin in which he circled the earth (1929.) He built and delivered to the U.S. the dirigible “Los Angeles.” In WW1 he trained many military air pilots for the German Army.
DORNIER, Dr. Claude (1884-1969) German airplane builder and designer. Began construction of all metal planes (1914); owner of aircraft plant Friedrichshafen (1929); built the DO-X which was the longest passenger airplane of its time. It once carried 169 people. He later manufactured fast bombers, reconnaissance flying boats and torpedo carrying airplanes.
Gorgeous printed leaf, measures 7.5”x11”, bearing the full signatures of Eckener & Dornier just beneath the German Republic Seal, with a printed legend reading: “In Tribute to the Pioneers of Germany Whose Lives and Services have been given to the Science of Aeronautics, This Page Has Been Autographed By” In choice condition and a very scarce combination of signatures.........$500.00
