DIZENGOFF, Meir. (1861-1936). Settled in Palestine in 1905. Russian-born pioneer in the first Jewish labor movement, developed the first industry in Palestine. Zionist leader as early as 1885 when he was arrested as a Russian revolutionary. He championed the founding of a Jewish homeland in Israel over Uganda and was among those in 1904 who began purchasing land near Jaffa that would later become Tel-Aviv. One of the Founders of the City of Tel-Aviv (1906). He laid the cornerstone (1909) and was the first Mayor of Tel-Aviv, the first Palestine Jewish City. Very early scarce typed letter signed on the letterhead “Tel-Abib Town Council” dated 1920. Signed in Hebrew..........SOLD
