Founder’s of Tel-Aviv-Scarce Group of Signatures
The Reading and Signing of the Israeli Declaration of Independence
was in the former home of Meir Dizengoff
DIZENGOFF, Meir. (1861-1936). Settled in Palestine in 1905. Russian-born pioneer in the first Jewish labor movement, developed the first industry in Palestine. Zionist leader as early as 1885 when he was arrested as a Russian revolutionary. He championed the founding of a Jewish homeland in Israel over Uganda and was among those in 1904 who began purchasing land near Jaffa that would later become Tel-Aviv. One of the Founders of the City of Tel-Aviv (1906). He laid the cornerstone (1909) and was the first Mayor of Tel-Aviv, the first Palestine Jewish City. The Reading and Signing of the Israeli Declaration of Independence was in the former home of Meir Dizengoff Early typed letter signed, Township of Tel-Aviv dated 29.7.25. Very nice signature of Dizengoff in red ink. Two file holes otherwise in very good condition.
BEZALEL. Jaffe (1868-1925) Zionist Leader in Russia and Erez Israel. Upon the resignation of Dizengoff he was appointed Director of the Geulah Company for land purchases under his directorship. He was one of the Founders of Tel-Aviv. He was instrumental into turning Tel-Aviv into a city.
UZIELI, M. One of the founders of the City of Tel-Aviv. Half of a partly printed bank check of the Anglo Palestine Co. Ltd. Endorsed on the verso by Bezalel and Uziele in Hebrew. Rubber stamp cancellation of The Committee of the Jewish Community of Jaffa. A scarce combination of signatures.
BOGRASHOV, DR. Ch. (1876-1963). Zionist leader, one of the founders of Tel-Aviv. Bograshov Street in Tel-Aviv named for him.
MOSINSOHN, Dr. B. ( -1942). Zionist Leader noted Hebrew Educator and one of the founders of Tel-Aviv.
Half of a partly printed check, dated 22.4.1914.
Endorsed on the verso by Bograshov and Mosinsohn. Large rubber stamp seal of the Direction Du College, Gymnasia Brith-Jaffe. A scarce combination of signatures.
