DEVENS, Charles (1820-1891). Brig. General of Volunteers, Massachusetts. He led divisions of the 18th, 11th and 24th Corps. Wounded on three occasions. Later, he became the Attorney General for President R.B. Hayes. Autograph letter signed, on the verso of a postcard, Boston, April 8, 1882. Devens writes: “I am very much obliged by a copy of your charming paper on dance, Yours truly, C. Devens”. |
