DENVER, John (1943-1997). Born Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr. Denver was an American singer, songwriter, record producer and activist. Starting in the 1970’s he was one of the most popular acoustic artist of the decade. By 1974, he was established as America’s best selling performer. He appeared in several films. An avid pilot he died at the age of 53 flying his personal experimental aircraft. His autobiography Take Me Home. Harmony Book. New York, 1994, First Edition so stated.
