DeKLERK, F.D. (1936-2021). Prime Minister of South Africa. State President of South Africa 1989 to 1994. His government dismantled the apartheid system. He freed Nelson Mandela. In 2001 his wife was found stabbed and strangled to death. Shared the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize with Nelson Mandela. South African Freedom Fighters called for him to be stripped of the Prize.
