Rock Legend Jim Croce
CROCE, Jim (1943-1973). Rock legend, American folk singer, songwriter. Croce formed several bands. His first #1 Hit was “Bad Bad Leroy Brown”. Many of his recordings achieved great popularity after his death in a plane crash. Croce had to sell his vintage guitar collection one piece at a time to pay for his bills. On Sept. 20, 1973 just 17 months after the release of his first album Croce was killed along with five others as their plane clipped tree tops upon takeoff. They were on their way to a sold out concert. Portrait of Croce, head & neck pose facing left. Measures 9”x11” on card stock. Top left corner of this item Croce writes: “Thanks alot Jim Croce”. One and a half years after his death this portrait was used on the album cover of “The Faces I’ve Been”. This portrait was signed in person for a very well known collector in New York. Some light creasing along part of the bottom otherwise in good condition.............................SOLD
