COSTE, Dieudonne (1892-1973). French aviator, WWI Ace with 8 victories. Nicknamed “Lindbergh of France”
BELLONTE, Maurice (1896-1983). French aviator, together with Coste made the first direct non-stop flight from Paris to New York (Sept.1-2, 1930). Coste was the pilot and Bellonte the navigator and co-pilot. Upon their arrival in New York, they were met by numerous crowds including Charles Lindbergh and his wife. New York City gave them a ticker tape parade and they met with President Hoover. Magazine photo of Coste and Bellonte in their plane “Question Mark” measures appx. 4.5”x5”. Boldly signed by both in the light area of the portrait offering excellent contrast. Bellonte dated his signature “29 June 1931”............... $475.00
