CORRIGAN, Douglas (1907-1995). American aviator named “Wrong Way” in 1938 after flying from New York to Ireland. He was denied permission to fly to Ireland, non-stop so he did so calling it a navigational error. He landed in County Dublin on July 18, 1938 after a 28 hour flight. This amusing and sensational stunt caused a stir among aviation circles throughout the world. Upon his return he published his book “That’s My Story”. He was featured in the moving picture “Flying Irishman” in 1939. He was one of the builders of Lindbergh’s “Spirit of St. Louis”. Autograph letter signed, one full page. He writes in part: “...sorry to hear of your bad luck-and I know just how you feel. Right now I don’t have need for a secretary and don’t know anyone around here who does, but I’m keeping your letter so I can let you know if I think I can help you....” Signed “Douglas Corrigan” and he dates it 11-28-38 in the year of his famous flight. Together with a photo 3”x4” of Corrigan as pilot, sitting in his plane inscribed and signed “To Pat Patrick-Douglas Corrigan 11-28-38”. Both items......................... $225.00
