General Orders #2 - Beards To be Kept Short

COOPER, Samuel
(1798-1896). Confederate general. In 1815 a graduate of West Point.
Adj. and Inspector General during the four full years of the CSA. Formally he had been the same in the US Army. He was the highest ranking General Officer in the Confederate Army.  D.S., 1pg., 12mo, Washington, Jan. 6, 1853. As Adjutant General, by command of Major general Scott, Cooper signs paragraph 218, general orders #2 in regard to how beards should be worn. A very interesting document in V/G condition. A very desirable Civil War General’s signature................SOLD
