One of a Kind Original Sketch by Jack Rosen
COOPER, Gary (1901-1961). American leading man noted for his slow speaking roles and playing the parts of a hero. Awarded an Oscar for Best Actor in 1941 for Sergeant York. Awarded another Oscar in 1952 for his part in High Noon. Original caricature by the noted artist Jack Rosen. During WWII, Rosen sketched the portraits of over 25,000 hospitalized servicemen. As head of security for the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City he had the opportunity to sketch over 500 celebrities, many of whom signed their sketches. Image area appx. 6”x10” in color, head and shoulders pose, profile of Cooper. Cooper has signed his name in full with a huge signature up the left hand margin. Very attractive for framing.
