Samuel L. Clemens [Mark Twain] (1835-1910). Famed American Author and Humorist. Wrote Tom Sawyer, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and many more.
 
Autograph Letter Signed, one page, n.d., c. 1879- 1880, Paris, France, on a slip of chain laid paper.
 
Reads: "Macgowan. I've had hard luck trying to get good English type-writing done in Paris; it is likely that other people are in the same boat. Sincerely, yours, S.L. Clemens". Then adds, "Speak also to Monsieur -" (name is crossed out).
 
Letter shows normal aging, single cross-fold, tape residue on top corners, one-inch tear on upper right margin, repaired when letter was affixed down to a larger card. $1,875.00
