BOYLE, William Anthony (1904-1984) Known as “Tough Guy” American Miner Union Leader, convicted for murder-for-hire while president of the United Mine Workers Union from 1963 to 1972. Convicted on charges of conspiracy for the murder of his opponent, his wife and daughter. Boyle was sentenced to 3 lifetimes in prison. ABEL, Iorwith Wilber (1908-1987) Founder of the United Steel Workers Union. In one year, he led 42 wildcat strikes. MEANY, George (1894-1980) President of AF of L and CIO (1955-1979) WOODCOCK, Leonard (1911-2001) President of United Auto Workers Union. First US Ambassador to China (1979-1981). Very active in the Civil Rights movement, marched with MLK Jr. His name appeared on Nixon’s Enemies List as #9.
