- Charles MANSON (b. 1934). American criminal
who led what became known as the Manson family. He is known as
the "icon of evil." Charged and convicted of murder
and conspiracy. Sentenced to death but that was automatically
commuted to life imprisonment by a 1972 court decision eliminating
the death penalty in California.
Partly printed check made on the Home Savings of America Bank,
California. The check is a Monopoly check produced by Parker
Brothers during the 1990s. Charles M. Mansons name
is imprinted on the top left corner along with his address "Corcoran,
CA" where he is imprisoned. The check is accomplished in
the hand of Manson, dated "Aug 22 69" and made
payable to Manson family member, "Linda Kasabian"
for $1,000.00. Boldly signed, "Charles M. Manson"
with a a swastika through his signature. Manson has also written
the word "murder" in the memo area of the check.
On August 8, 1969, Manson announced "Now is the time for
Helter Skelter" to his followers who went on a forty-eight
hour murder spree.
This check is a remarkable association between Manson family
members. Linda Kasabian (b. 1949) a former Manson family member
was chief eye witness in District Attorney Vincent Bugliosis
prosecution of Manson and his followers for the Tate-LaBianca
murders. Kasabian believed Manson looked Christ-like. They had
sexual relations. She joined family members breaking into LA
homes and stealing money. She witnessed Tex Watson shoot and
kill Steven Parent, a visitor in the home of Roman Polanski.
This remarkable check is in very fine condition. All of Mansons
writings and signature are dark and bold
