CHAMBERLIN, Clarence (1893-1976). American aviator and pioneer. Enlisted in the U.S. Army 1917). Entered the airplane manufacturing business in 1918. In 1927 he established a new world’s endurance record. He established a new world’s long distance record by carrying the first passenger across the Atlantic (N.Y./Germany). Chamberlin was the second man to pilot a fixed-wing aircraft across the Atlantic. A plane he piloted made the first ship to shore flight with Air mail.
