One of the 7th Greatest Flyers in the World

CHAMBERLIN, Clarence  (1893-1976).  American aviation pioneer, second man to fly a fixed wing aircraft across the Atlantic Ocean while carrying the first transatlantic passenger. He was an early barnstormer. He took off the vessel Leviathan on August 1, 1927, and delivered the first ship to shore mail.  First Day Cover commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Fort Bliss. Fine cachet of Fort Bliss with soldiers firing heavy guns.  Fort Bliss 3 cent postage stamp cancelled First Day of Issue. El Paso Tex NOV 5, 1948. Signed “Clarence D.
