14. Jimmy Carter & Gerald Ford Signed Photograph of the Carter Inauguration Jimmy Carter (1924-2024). 39th President of the United States (1977-1981), and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. Prior to becoming president, Carter served two terms in the Georgia Senate, and was the 76th Governor of Georgia from 1971-1975. He and Senator Ted Kennedy were the unofficial leaders of the Democratic Party, excluding unelected presidential nominees, until the nomination and presidency of Bill Clinton (1993-2001). Carter remains an important and relevant national figure and he is a leader on many issues, especially the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, his Carter International Center and work on behalf of the poor and homeless. This offering is a color 8 in. by 10 in. color photograph taken at the Carter inauguration in January of 1977. The photograph shows both defeated President Gerald Ford and the new president Jimmy Carter being sworn in by Chief Justice Warren Burger. The photograph is signed Jimmy Carter and Gerald R. Ford.
