CAPOTE, Truman (1924-1984). American author, artist, screenwriter, playwright and actor. Best known for his true crime novel “In Cold Blood”. This book is about the murder of a Kansas wheat farm family in their home. This murder fascinated Capote. He traveled with his friend Harper Lee to visit the scene of the massacre. Capote died in the home of Joanne Carson, ex-wife of Johnny Carson. Capote was cremated however his ashes were stolen at a Halloween party in 1988 but recovered. His ashes were stolen once again and the thief got caught. “In Cold Blood”, Random House 1965, First Edition so stated. Hand signed by Truman Capote on the title page. In very fine condition with a near fine dust jacket. Capote’s signature is “in person” in May 1981. He along with his pal Tennessee Williams walked in the Gotham Book Mart in NYC after having lunch. This they done often and both were fairly intoxicated, as usual. Capote signed two books that day and Williams signed four....................SOLD
