Very Rare Signature of Thomas John Capel CAPEL, Thomas John (1836-1911). English Roman catholic priest. He established Roman Catholic University at Kensington (1874-1878). Satirised as Monsignor Catesby in Disraeli’s “Lothair” (1870). Created Domestic Prelate to the Pope. During his life there was a Diocesan Investigation. Of four counts he was found guilty of three including criminal intercourse. On a 2.25”x4” card Capel has written a few words in his hand and signed his name in full.
