CAMERON, Simon (1799-1889). Lincoln’s Secretary of War 91861-62). Autograph letter signed, one very full page, Bank of Middletown, June 17, 1839. Financial content. Cameron cannot honor a note because a sudden return “has consumed all our funds in the City...at this moment gives me more trouble to keep afloat than I have had for years.” He continues: “It gives me much pain to be compelled to refuse you anything...” Signed in full and he adds an additional eight line postscript which he initials. Mounting traces on corners of verso otherwise a fine example.............SOLD
